As the school gates reopen and we send our little ones back out, one of our main concerns is their health and safety while they’re away from us. Teaching them what cleanliness and  good hand-hygiene looks like goes far beyond just them using their hand sanitizer.

At school, standard procedures should be followed and these include sanitizing areas that students come into contact with often everyday. Areas like these are their desks, computer keyboards, faucets, toys and doorknobs etc.

In the classroom, waste should be handled and disposed of in the proper manner. No-touch bins that are easy-to-use should be conveniently located around the school and in classrooms and these should be disinfected on a daily basis. When removing waste from these bins, gloves should always be worn!

Both students and kids should wash their hands with soap and water as often as possible- especially after contact with high-traffic surfaces. Washing your hands properly looks like:

  • Wetting your hands with clean water, then closing the tap and applying soap
  • Lather your hands by rubbing them together. Ensure the backs of your hands are covered as well as between your fingers and under your nails
  • Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds and then rinse under clean, running water.
